That was a couple of months ago. I wonder if he still supports them now?

Lol, I hope not.

I added simply that there was evidence of theft from other vendors as well, but that the names were not given (as we have not publicly released the names of those other vendors).

I've been hesitant about adding fuel to the fire here. However, I have seen the question raised about Iobits and AVG. Someone on the AVG free forum asked about it and the answer received was unclear. The link provided is here:

http: //www.iobit.com/avg-com.html

This mentions a version 8 of AVG, however, which is rather old by now. I doubt that AVG even knows about this. And I hardly think AVG needs another company to promote their product--they're likely doing just fine on their own. Over on the Wilders Security forums there is a discussion going on about Iobits, and someone there said that the download links on that 'avg' page all start a download for Iobit 360. And apparently so does clicking on the download of the free porn game offered from an Iobit page as well--they're spamming the porn fans, apparently! (Which is kind of comical, actually!) Wilders discussion here:

http://www.wildersse...d.php?p=1569846

Pretty odd ducks, these Iobit folks!

Oh, by the way, I did see a page in my travels which states that Malwarebytes is a part of Iobits 360, but I don't know where that link is at the moment. I didn't access it from this computer. I thought that was sort of comical as well. It wasn't an Iobits page that made the statement, it was some other web site which was obviously mistaken, of course.

I did a pulled from web test right now . These are filtered and confirmed to be malware and unique samples (pre filter was well over 5000) . Not a single one of these samples is over 24 hours old .

Without our help things are not going so well . I encourage anyone that tests IOBit to only use samples they have download themselves within the past 24 hours .

This post today in the IObit forum.

I just installed IOBit Security 360 and it is telling me the last time I updated was "40 days ago" however, when I try to update it, it tells me no updates are available. I know this can't be possible because when I scanned it with my archive of malware it missed over 600 files, but my friend who uses IOBit scanned it a couple of weeks ago and it missed 194 files. Is there something wrong with my install, or what?

I'm using windows 7 x86, by the way.

OMG!

No , they deleted the stolen defs . Detection rates will be lower in 1.2 than they were in 1.1 . Their explanation should be epic .

Obviously we can expect IOBit to say these are all faked so I issue a challenge to anyone that wants to take it . Get a pile of new malware together and filter it down till all files are detected by both MBAM and IOBit 1.1 . Next take these same samples and scan them with IOBit 1.2 . The less you have to with MBAM and our website the better . I actually prefer that IOBit users that have run tests in the past do this test .

EDIT to add .

After your test make the samples available to everyone so there is no questions on either side and the results can be verified by anyone .

Not sure if this is related to your findings Bruce,

But the inhouse competition IObit were running for folks that compare IObit to other softwares(testing) has now been brought to a premature end without the big money prize being awarded.

I have heard elsewhere that there might be ties between IObit and Chinese intelligence. Probably just rumors, but imagine if they were able to capture a large market share through their free software. Now, imagine someday, all the NATO IPs requesting an automatic update for the scanner were told that ntldr is a hostile file, and must be deleted. Quite the cyber-nuke if you ask me.

World War 3 right there sir.

Yeah, but from what I see, answers are running really low!

Seems they are mostly belittling the question askers, dodging the issues raised, and just using their forum for emotional release of their frustrations. Quite amusing to watch, as their inability to admit to dishonorable acts, only increases their dishonor. They could have at least blamed a lazy ghost employee (and watch this, I bet this happens now, mark the time of this post, just in case), for importing MBAM's signatures into their product, rather than doing actual work of his own.

Anyone want to take bets against this?

I seriously doubt they would do that, because it's easier to deny the situation entirely than to explain how their software was so compatible with our database, as well as the databases of the other vendors that they appear to have stolen from.

Well I must have ruffled some feathers, because some post that I have made on another forum critical of Major Geeks has been deleted. One of the Admins on that site is also an Admin on the Major Geeks forum as well. Isn't it rather hippo critical to be going on about IoBit and saying that they are friends of Malwarebytes while at the same time deleting post critical of their own stand on the issue? Looks like a case of money talking and BS feeding to the public to me,

Thanks
Wildman

There are some here that confuse members of the Iobit forum with Iobit. I make no claim here other than an appeal on the behalf of good people. I only ask that the ones that are torturing the good people on the Iobit forum to please stop! They/We are there to help each other with all system issues... and sometimes life issues as well. From the information I've seen on this forum as well as Iobits: I can see some repetitive postings, that can only be construed as personal attacks, coming from a few members of this forum!

I don't believe that MBAM wanted their users to become vigilantes/lynchmobs against users.
I don't believe MBAM is hateful.
Many bought and paid for with real $ the software in question.
At this point its between MBAM and IOBIT.

There's no need to be abusive to the users or forum members!

If any of you believe in Yahweh, Allah, Budda, or any other higher power... then please don't be malicious!!!

If you don't believe in a higher power then at least try to be nice!

I appreciate you all!

Mel

Have a heart!
Please!!! For those who confuse members of the forum with the company!!! Get clarity!
Please

Are you trying to control people by telling them what you believe their gods want? You have no idea what you are talking about. Posted Image

While I certainly see your point GT, I still think the flame war going on on lots of boards right now serves no real purpose. MBAM made its case, and sites hosting IOBit 360 acted accordingly (at least in my opinion) and IOBit themselves have pulled it from their own site. They've admitted to nothing, but they don't have to, it's pretty clear by their response of pulling it from the net.

I will go on record here saying that I only support the rights of individuals to do their own testing and come to their own conclusions . I am not instructing nor have I have instructed anyone to post anything on the IOBit forums .

I do not support personal attacks .

If someone has a question that is not answered to their satisfaction on your forums and becomes upset there is nothing I can do to influence that reaction .
