I had the same error when I first installed. I had to update the proxy settings in Malwarebytes. To get to the proxy settings in Malwarebytes open up the main window, got to Settings tab at the top and go to the Updater Settings tab in the middle of the screen there. I used the same settings from my browser and it works flawlessly. Hope that helps.

What if your proxy settings aren't setup?

I also cannot update and, quite frankly, I am getting tired of it. I do like Malwarebytes but I am considering deleting it and getting a different virus protection program.

Hello and welcome, btex:

Sorry you are having updating issues with MBAM.

However, as a courtesy to the OP and to avoid confusion, it would be best if you would please start your own topic thread (and/or ask that a moderator split your thread to a new one).
That way, your post will likely receive the attention it deserves.

When you do, please include some of the basic system info Firefox requested of the OP in post #4 here:

* OS version including 32/64-bit
* Installed Security Product(s) including Firewall and Program Versions
* MBAM version (current 1.50.1.1100) (Free or Pro)
* Definition version (current 5655)
* Do you use a router to connect to Internet
* Are you showing any signs of an infection
* How much RAM is installed

There are many possible reasons for updating issues.
Most, if not all, are easily resolved with a bit of technical troubleshooting.
The experts need a bit of basic info to better assist you more expeditiously.

((Also, FWIW, just to clarify, MBAM is NOT an "anti-virus", but rather a unique standalone anti-MALWARE program designed to complement, but not to replace your computer's AV program (or firewall).))

Thank you very much,

@btex,

I do like Malwarebytes but I am considering deleting it and getting a different virus protection program.

BTW Malwarebytes is not an Anti-Virus program, it is designed to work alongside your anti-virus program...

In the meantime you should start your own topic as well, cause everyones computer is setup differently so the cause could be different.... plese see below:

Hello chachblack,

Could you please answer a few questions I have: What AV do you currently have installed? What is your OS?

Thank you very much.
