Checking for updates

I installed Malwarebyte - Anti Malware yesterday, when I tried to update it got the following message.
Update failed. Make sure you are connected to the Internet and your firewall is set to allow access to the Internet. I am on line and I'm using AVG.
I have the AVG Firewall settings to allow for all when it comes to Malwarebytes - Antimalware.
I do not know where else to check .
Please advice
