I just did a test regarding to this issue. I uninstalled the latest version of Malwarebytes Antimalware, and I downloaded a previous version of it. I unchecked the checkbox of update Malwarebytes Antimalware and Launch Malwarebytes Antimalware. Then I went to Malwarebytes Chameleon folder and ran one of the chameleon files. It prompted me to download the latest version when Chameleon was trying to update Malwarebytes, but I cancelled it, just to see what would happen, and then Malwarebytes Antimalware downloaded the definition updates, the product is still not updated. I understand that I need to install the latest version of Malwarebytes Antimalware, but in the unlikely event that if there is a new version of Malwarebytes Antimalware came out, and assuming that my computer is infected with a fake antivirus (for example) in that time, if I proceed to download the latest version while I am running Malwarebytes Chameleon, the fake antivirus may block the installation of the new version of Malwarebytes Antimalware, in this case I will have to cancel the installation of the latest version of Malwarebytes Antimalware product, and wait until the fake antivirus is removed and my computer is fixed, then I will download the latest version, and then do another scan. This is a workaround. Perhaps in the future, Malwarebytes Chameleon should check for Malwarebytes Antimalware product updates if Malwarebytes Antimalware is installed.
