  1. For the moment everything seems ok. I thank you for your detailed thorough advice. Im going to see if Mcafee is a problem if I some how can and Ill check out Avira, Thanks again. Jason
  2. 3. malwarebytes finished and it found a problem with a file called "Playmydvd". Removing now.
  4. well isnt that lovely. Seeing as how I have had my faith in Mcafee for years and my liscense for this year isnt up until next february, if I disable and uninstall mcafee what FREE products can I use to ensure my computer is safe?
  5. Mcafee has download latest file and seems to be working as expected at the moment.
  6. well I did everything stated and yes malwarebytes did update (and is running a quick scan right now) but I am still having problems with mcafee. I think that I may know what is partly wrong. When I went to windows/rgif.omf I noticed that there is also an rgif.omfx and rgif.omfxxxxxx and an rgif.omfxxxxxxxxx all the way up to rgif.omfxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx This isnt good is it? Should I use hijack this to delete all these files on reboot? Mcafee is downloading the latest update now so it may be fixed, and malwarebytes has found two more problems I will post more when both are done.
  7. Nevermind. I found the problem. I was trying to upload a zipx file so I made a regular zip file and now it will upload. Posting it now in the right forum and will follow steps above after.
  8. Well I dont know if this is strange or Im doing something wrong. I havent used winzip in a long time. I only have winrar. When I made the rgif.omf file into a rar file and tried to upload it I was told I dont have permission to upload that kind of file. So I downloaded winzip and made a regular zip file out of rgif.omf and when I tried that I was told the same thing, not authorized. What is wrong or what am I doing wrong. I have not taken any other steps yet.
  9. The Driver32 file is from after the system restore. It is as up to date as it can get.
  10. I did a system restore before I did the driver32 export thing so I ran another Hijack this just to be current I really appreciate your time and efforts on my behalf. here are both files Hijack first: Logfile of Trend Micro HijackThis v2.0.2 Scan saved at 15:48, on 2009-05-16 Platform: Windows XP SP3 (WinNT 5.01.2600) MSIE: Internet Explorer v8.00 (8.00.6001.18702) Boot mode: Normal Running processes: C:\WINDOWS\System32\smss.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\winlogon.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\services.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\lsass.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe C:\Program Files\Lavasoft\Ad-Aware\aawservice.exe C:\WINDOWS\Explorer.EXE C:\WINDOWS\system32\spoolsv.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\gearsec.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\runservice.exe C:\Program Files\McAfee\SiteAdvisor\McSACore.exe C:\PROGRA~1\McAfee\MSC\mcmscsvc.exe c:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\mcafee\mna\mcnasvc.exe c:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\mcafee\mcproxy\mcproxy.exe C:\PROGRA~1\McAfee\VIRUSS~1\McShield.exe C:\Program Files\McAfee\MSK\MskSrver.exe C:\Program Files\Webroot\Spy Sweeper\SpySweeper.exe C:\Program Files\Yahoo!\SoftwareUpdate\YahooAUService.exe C:\Program Files\McAfee\MBK\McAfeeDataBackup.exe C:\Program Files\Windows Media Player\WMPNSCFG.exe C:\PROGRA~1\McAfee\VIRUSS~1\mcsysmon.exe C:\Program Files\McAfee\MPF\MPFSrv.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\wscntfy.exe C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis\HijackThis.exe R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Search_URL = http://srch-us10.hpwis.com/ R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://www.yahoo.com/?fr=fp-yie8 R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=69157 R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Search_URL = http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=54896 R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://us.rd.yahoo.com/customize/ie/defaul...rch/search.html R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=54896 R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=69157 R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchURL,(Default) = http://search.yahoo.com/search?fr=mcafee&p=%s R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,First Home Page = http://downloads.yahoo.com/internetexplorer/welcome R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Connection Wizard,ShellNext = http://us10.hpwis.com/ R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings,ProxyOverride = localhost R3 - URLSearchHook: Yahoo!
