  1. Mr.C, I certainly didn't mean to imply you caused any damage. I appreciate the links you include here & all of the time and bother you've extended to help... When this is over I surely intend to insist that she properly protect the new OS. The one thing which would clear up the questions I am left with which your expertise may provide is- in your opinion can the malware on the system have prevented OTLPE from installing properly? Thank you for all of your help... Griven
  2. "Listen..please stop and please find someone who nows about computers and can install the operating system for you. If you can't do the things I asked you, " Mr.C. What didn't I do that was asked? You're giving up on me>
  3. Okay. On another computer, the CD opens, shows 8 basic files in folder. I opened the menu & it has most of the files shown on the desktop of the sick computer. Here's the breakdown... In drive, it shows: ........................................... I386 programs SFX Autorun reatogoMenu reatogoMenu (txt, I guess) WINS1IP WINS1IP.SP2 ............................................. In the reatogoMenu file is: ............................................ 2-Open Folder Programs [folder] 7-Zip File Manager Agent Ransack Disk Investigator DriveImage XML Handy Recov... ImgBurn Magical Jelly Beans MSKeyViewer Plus notepad ++ Undelete Plus Windows Registr... ................................................ In the 2-Open Folders Programs folder is: ................................................................. 7zFM Agent Ransack di DISKPART_GUI dixml Foxit Reader Handy Recovery HxD ImgBurn Keyfinder MSKey Viewer Plus notepad ++ Nu2Menu OTLPE Test Disk Undelete_plus wbload WRR xplorer2_lite ................................................. I checked the second disk, which was recorded at 2.4 instead of Maximum & it looks exactly the same. Looking for a byte count on both CDs I was puzzled to find they listed no bytes used & 702 mb free [??] ............................................................................. Would it damage anything to shut down the sick computer & try the second OTLPE disk? -Griven
  4. How will we know?
  5. Hoping to get files out, I'm attempting to open My Computer Nothing happens. Am I going about this the right way?
  6. Wish I wasn't.

  8. oops Under that it says: Attempt to access invalid address OK
  9. Tried the bean. Got x:Programs\Keyfinder\start_keyfinder.cmd
  10. Let me get this straight. I click on the bean to put in the key to the XP that's going to go on? I can put files on the flashdrive?
  11. Your last response took me by suprise. I had gone to burn another ORLPE cd, anticipating we would have to do it again. I remembered your tip to "Burn it at a slow speed to avoid errors" and thought this might have been the problem. You might note that OTLPE starts burning with a MAX speed default to any poor soul who has to take this trail in the future, so they don't have to stop the burn & load another cd to reset the speed, they can open the program before loading the cd. As it happened, I clicked the "OK" and it resumed until another error message- "Error while executing:[[xpeinit-f-m "starting WB Themes"%SystemDrive%\Programs\wbloadEx.exe -auto A third error message after clicking "OK" again and resuming again was a RUNDLL titled error- "Error loading Setupapi The paging file is too small for this operation to complete." That left me with a light blue background with 21 icons including "Magic Jelly Bean" and "Recycle Bin" How are we doing?
  12. What if I click the "OK"?
  13. What are the dangers, if any, to the other computer?
  14. Encountered: XpeRunOnceEx "Error while executing:[[xpeinit-s-f-m "Changing USBroot to Y" autorun_USBroot.cmd The [[ actually looks like two straight long lines There's an OK click below
  15. Okay. Here goes...
