  1. The free antivirus scene is a mess right now. AVG is getting high scores from the testing labs but Avast bought it so who knows how long it will continue to exist. Avira is great but suffers false positives (it currently thinks the unofficial Fallout 2 patch is malicious) and everything has popups. Also you if you are on Windows 10 anniversary (which I am) Windows Defender is on all the time unless you set up a group policy. So here is where I stand. My daily driver is also my gaming pc. I'm looking to get the best protection I can without any major impact on gaming performance and without annoying popups. Also after having to buy Hitman Pro to clean up something on my sisters laptop I have a year of Hitmanpro Alert at my disposal. What are my best options here? Windows Defender+Hitmanpro Alert? Avira+Windows Defender+Hitmanpro Alert? Some other combinations of programs? Some advice here would be really appreciated. Thanks.
  2. Hi I'm in the middle of setting up my new gaming pc and hit a problem. Both Bitdefender and Kaspersky are giving me unacceptable issues when installed. Kaspersky is slowing Gforce experience, which wouldn't be an issue if it didn't need it for shield streaming and Bitdefender added 30 seconds to my boot time, caused the PC to not start at all at least once and crashed half way through a system scan. The last isn't all that shocking, I've never had great luck with Bitdefender. So where should I be looking outside of the two big boys? Eset? Webroot? Stick with Avira free and its rock solid signatures? I'm a savvy enough user, realistically the antivirus is just there to protect me from hacked websites and sophisticated phishing email. I just want something to do that job and never bother me otherwise.
  3. This is my first experience with the new UI. You do realise mbam now looks like malware right? I actually panicked after the update.
  4. Out of curiosity, any views on Comodo IS Premium? Is it worth the popups?
  5. Avast is kind of messed up right now so I really have to look to another free solution. AVG? MSE? Comodo IS? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
  6. Hmm something to be considered. Any opinions on Panda Cloud?
  7. Yeah I was thinking about NOD32 but it hasn't been doing too well with the independent testing labs lately.
  8. Does anyone have any recommendations for a good light antivirus for my bootcamp partition? Whenever I use Windows I use Avast but Avast 7 is having a noticeable impact on boot time. I basically want something that will sit in my system tray not eat my resources and not bother me unless I accidentally click on a link I shouldn't have. I've been looking at Webroot but I am sceptical of it to say the least, even with the good results from the labs I find it hard to believe something that small cal provide adequate protection, I keep thinking about that guy who sold dousing rods to the UK military and told them they where bomb detectors. Anyway, any suggestions?
