  1. Hi, It's working fine now. No more freezing either. Thank you for all the help.
  2. Hi, I renamed registry.pol in group policy folder to .sav again and now it's gone even after restart. Hopefully, it's gone for good. Can we keep this thread open for a few days just in case it comes back. Thanks.
  3. Hi, I followed the steps you provided and reinstalled chrome but it's still there. Thanks.
  4. Hi, It seems to be working now. I think it was Bitdefender detecting FRST as a threat on startup. When I excluded it, it's fine now. Google chrome is still hijacked though.
  5. It's freezing again. Shut down and rebooted a couple of times but it keeps freezing. I had to wait for like 10 minutes to be able to click anything. It was working for a few minutes and now it's frozen again. Malwarebytes was trying to update during that couple of minutes but nothing was happening. Now malwarebytes has upated but I had my iTunes opened and that's still freezing. It seems to me like there's some kind of bottleneck going on.
  6. Here are the files. I haven't got a chance to use my laptop that much since I've been working. So far it's not freezing or crashing anymore but google custom search is still there. Thanks. FRST.txt Addition.txt
  7. Hi, It stopped freezing but Firefox crashed one more time. Unfortunately, the Google custom search is still there. Thanks.
  8. Hi, My laptop kept freezing after the last fix. I had firefox opened and reading a reddit discussion and it froze. The taskbar kept refreshing and it then totally disappeared. Please check the pic I took from my phone. You can see the task bar is blank. I couldn't get to task manager or do anything else. I had to do a forced shut down and reboot it. It has happened twice since my last post. I'll update whether this happens again or not.
  9. I also upgraded to paid version of malwarebytes in hopes of catching it. I ran a full scan with rootkits and drives checked. Didn't find any threats.
  10. Hi, Please find the log in the attachment. The custom search is still there. I reset the chrome settings again and tried it. Thanks. Fixlog.txt
  11. Hi, Here are the files. Thanks. Addition.txt FRST.txt
  12. Hi, I followed your steps and the custom search is still there. I noticed one thing. I have Chrome pinned on my taskbar. When I launch it, it used to expand right where its pinned icon was like how firefox is in the pic but as you can see google chrome opens up all the way to the right of the taskbar. I don't know if that's something relevant to what's happening. Is it a fake chrome.exe the one that's launching and not the pinned/real one? Just wanted to let you know. Thanks.
  13. Firefox seems to be working now. I don't see your.tvlink homepage popping up when I launch it but Chrome still has the custom search thingy. Thanks.
  14. I saw others being asked to run Farbar. So, I went ahead and scanned with it. Please find the log in the attachment. FRST.txt Addition.txt
