  1. I've used MBAM for years (along with various anti-virus programs) on XP, Vista, and Windows 7 and have never had a problem with malware infection. I've always believed that while web surfing I am getting "real time protection" from MBAM. I occasionally get MBAM "block messages" such as: IP-BLOCK 77.247.181.102 (Type: outgoing, Port: 50343, Process: iexplore.exe) I thought this was "real time protection". Today, in starting to download the new version of MBAM, I notice that it says that real time protection is available only with MBAM PRO; I read the same thing, as well, in a review of MBAM from 2009. So now I'm wondering what these "block messages" are if they are not real time protection. I'd appreciate any comments to help me to understand this. Thanks!
  2. Arthur.... Thanks very much. I've no reason to believe that this is a false positive.....I'll go ahead and remove them. I just needed a little reassurance. Thanks again. RonInRI
  3. Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware 1.41 Database version: 2798 Windows 6.0.6002 Service Pack 2 (Vista) Norton Anti-virus 2009 Windows Defender Malwarebytes' scan gave this result and prompts me to remove these keys from the registry: Registry Values Infected: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\System Tool (Fake.SystemTool) -> No action taken. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\System Tool (Fake.SystemTool) -> No action taken. I am always wary about touching the registry. Would appreciate feedback from someone experienced. Should I delete the registry keys? Is there anything I should be careful of (or afraid of!)? Thanks. RonInRI
  4. Many thanks! If only all questions were so simple to resolve! Peace. RonIn RI USA
  5. My computer is sluggish this morning so am doing scans. Malwarebytes Anti-Malware came up with this "infected file""...the log entry reads: Vendor: Broken.OpenCom Category: Registry Data Items:HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\scrfile\shell\open\command Other: Bad: ("%1"%*)G.... Action taken: No action taken I'm not sure what I have here or whether it's safe to delete the "item" (i.e. Registry Key), so I'll appreciate any and all feedback, suggestions, assitance.... Many thanks. RonInRI USA
