  1. I found where that option is. What is the "System account"? Does that mean it "runs as a service" or what does that mean? I want it to pop something up if it finds something wrong or show some indication in the System Tray. I would rather leave it set to run as the active window than having to remember to keep checking the logs. Is there a way to have the scans run silently or minimized but still alert me somehow when something is found?
  2. How can I configure the Malwarebytes Anti-Malware scheduled scans to run minimized instead of popping up as the active window? Thanks to anyone who can help me out.

  5. I use uTorrent maybe once every few weeks just when I miss an episode of a current TV series. I understand the risks but I would prefer not to give up that ability. If Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware cannot prevent an infection from using uTorrent, if it can at least tell me that there is an infection, I would then be able to take steps to remove the infection. I disabled Symantec Norton 360 and Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware. I created the CFScript.txt file and dragged it onto ComboFix.exe which started ComboFix. I have attached the log file inside of the attached ComboFixLog.zip file. I noticed that the CFScript.txt file was gone after it was dropped onto ComboFix.exe. I restarted the computer (because most of the System Tray icons were gone). I then noticed that the default web browser was again Internet Explorer instead of Apple Safari but this time Apple Safari still works if I open it directly. Has the log files of any of the infection detection programs that I executed per your directions indicated any infection? Please advise what the results were in the latest ComboFix log file and what I should do next. Thanks once again for your assistance.

  7. I disabled Symantec Norton 360 and Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and then executed ComboFix. It installed the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console and then ran the scan and created a log file. I have attached the log file inside of the attached ComboFixLog.zip file. My default web browser is Apple Safari. When I tried to go to the Malwarebytes forum to send this response, Internet Explorer opened up instead of Apple Safari. I tried to start Apple Safari directly and it would not start and the icon for the shortcut was now a blank icon. I checked the ComboFixLog.zip
  8. Thank you for your response. I ran the update and then the quick scan. No infections were found. At first, it only got disabled when I installed pcAnywhere v10.51 but even after uninstalling pcAnywhere and Norton 360 and then re-installing Norton 360 (without installing pcAnywhere), Norton 360 v4.0 sometimes will not start up when the computer is powered on (and cannot be manually opened) but if I restart the computer, then it works OK. 11. Is the mlfcache.dat file located in the \windows\system32 folder a part of Spyware or used by the Windows version of Apple Safari v4.04 web browser? I ran a Malwarebytes Anti-Malware (latest version) full scan and it found nothing infected on my computer. I am having a problem with my Symantec Norton 360 v4.0 anti-virus software not running (it keeps getting disabled). I contacted Symantec technical support and they did a remote session on my computer and they claim that the above mentioned file they found on my computer is spyware software that they say "I allowed" to be installed on my computer. They said I need to remove that "spyware software" from my computer or Norton 360 will not work. They said that Norton 360 did not prevent it from being installed because "I allowed it". They said either I have to remove it on my own or pay them $100 to remove it for me. I did a google search on mlfcache.dat and found that somebody said that file is used by Apple Safari. I found not find any references that says it is spyware or a virus. Can anybody confirm that it is a valid Safari file? If you use Safari for Windows, can you please tell me if that file is on your computer in that folder and which version of Safari you are using? If anybody knows that this is a spyware or virus related file, can you please let me know the name of the spyware or virus and the URL of a webpage that describes it and how to remove it? Thanks to anyone who can help me out.
