  1. I too am having the same problem: XP, Zone Alarm (version 9.2.057.0000), and no problems with my paid version of Malwarebytes until the upgrade to 1.60 yesterday. The computer I've tested functions in Safe Mode, but freezes at the end of the login process for any user, including the administrator, in the regular mode. (We have two others I haven't turned on yet since Christmas, but all are XP with Zone Alarm.) I ran a full scan of my computer in Safe Mode, using Malwarebytes 1.60, and it came up with no problems. So I'm not infected. I didn't upgrade Malwarebytes manually -- the program did it by itself, so using the clean feature wasn't needed. I uninstalled Malwarebytes and re-installed it using the 2010 executable file for Version 1.46 which I had on my computer. It has updated the virus signatures, so I have a current database on it (911122901), but still using engine 1.46. I have disabled updates for that, so it's a temporary fix. I have NO NO NO intention of stopping using Zone Alarm, whether it's up to date or not. You can't get me to dump someone else's product because your upgrade doesn't work with it -- without telling me in advance what it will no longer support. I'll stay with engine 1.46 for now. If it isn't resolved in a few weeks, bye-bye Malwarebytes. Too bad after all this time, on 3 computers, but I can't live with the lack of professionalism, attempts to minimize the problem, and excuses I see here. You guys might stop attempting to minimize the problem and the implied put-downs in your responses. I saw the same thing about 18 months ago when I last had a problem and visited here. It's not attractive. You'll come across as less arrogant and less defensive if you stick with the technical solutions to the problem, rather than trying to minimize it. It does nothing to increase my confidence in your product -- previously very high, now shaken.
  2. Thx for the tips mountaintree16 & yardbird. I followed them, and the problem is gone. When I updated my AVG anti-virus program yesterday, I noticed that I'd never authorized its Resident Shield to scan tracking cookies. So I checked that box. I'm wondering if that caused the problem. Anyway, with the exceptions you suggested entered into AVG -- which does show up in its Resident Shield section -- I'm not experiencing any interference with Malwarebytes. Thx for your help. Much appreciated!
  3. I just have the free version of AVG. I think it's pretty basic. But it has what they call a Link Scanner and a Resident Shield. I see various AVG applications running in the Windows Task Manager all the time.
  4. 1. I have had a licensed edition of Malwarebytes for over a year. No problems. This morning it stopped working. I'm not very tech-savvy, so unsure what to do. I suspect an update to my AVG Anti-virus program yesterday is interfering with the Malwarebytes, but that's only a guess. 2. Yesterday (Sep 3rd) everything was fine. Here is the protection log: protection-log-2010-09-03.txt 01:19:01 admin MESSAGE Protection started successfully 01:19:07 admin MESSAGE IP Protection started successfully 08:51:05 admin MESSAGE Protection started successfully 08:51:34 admin MESSAGE IP Protection started successfully 09:37:21 admin MESSAGE Scheduled update executed successfully 09:37:21 admin MESSAGE IP Protection stopped 09:37:30 admin MESSAGE Database updated successfully 09:37:32 admin MESSAGE IP Protection started successfully 10:37:00 admin MESSAGE Scheduled scan executed successfully 3. I updated my AVG Anti-virus program in there. AVG version 8.5.441. Virus data base 271.1.1/3111 (last updated 3 Sep 10 10:04 am). 4. Here is the log of the automatic Malwarebytes quick scan done yesterday (after the AVG update) (everything was fine): mbam-log-2010-09-03 (10-46-10).txt (automatic quick scan) Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware 1.46 www.malwarebytes.org Database version: 4535 Windows 5.1.2600 Service Pack 3 Internet Explorer 8.0.6001.18702 03.09.2010 10:46:10 AM mbam-log-2010-09-03 (10-46-10).txt Scan type: Quick scan Objects scanned: 16919 Time elapsed: 8 minute(s), 50 second(s) Memory Processes Infected: 0 Memory Modules Infected: 0 Registry Keys Infected: 0 Registry Values Infected: 0 Registry Data Items Infected: 0 Folders Infected: 0 Files Infected: 0 Memory Processes Infected: (No malicious items detected) Memory Modules Infected: (No malicious items detected) Registry Keys Infected: (No malicious items detected) Registry Values Infected: (No malicious items detected) Registry Data Items Infected: (No malicious items detected) Folders Infected: (No malicious items detected) Files Infected: (No malicious items detected) (I also ran a full scan yesterday, with the same results -- no problems.) 5. I shut my computer down at 11 am yesterday, just a few minutes after the full Malwarebytes scan was completed. 6. I turned my computer on at 9:36 am today. Here's where the problem started. Here's today's protection log: protection-log-2010-09-04.txt (saved 9:47 am) 09:37:29 admin ERROR UtilityReadFile failed with error code 32 09:37:30 admin MESSAGE Protection stopped 09:47:32 admin ERROR CryptDecrypt failed with error code -2146893820 09:47:33 admin MESSAGE Protection stopped I didn't know anything was wrong at first, until an error message from Malwarebytes popped up, saying something like "protection has stopped". (I was on the internet site of a major bank at the time.) So I tried to click on the Malwarebytes desktop icon to re-start protection. I got a different error message: An error has occurred. Please report this error code to our support team. MBAM_ERROR_LOAD_DATABASE (0.0) 7. I re-booted the computer. No Malwarebytes icon in the lower right hand corner of my screen (where it usually is). The Windows Task Manager does NOT show any "mbam" file, which is usually running. When I click on the desktop Malwarebytes icon, the same error message appears: An error has occurred. Please report this error code to our support team. MBAM_ERROR_LOAD_DATABASE (0.0) 8. Since everything was fine when I shut the computer down yesterday, and nothing had happened except the update to AVG (and maybe some automatic updates to some other programs), I'm wondering if another program's update is interfering with Malwarebytes. Any ideas? (I can e-mail my Malwarebytes ID & key if needed, but obviously shouldn't post that on a public forum.)
