  1. Thank you for your reply, and instructions on how to send a diagnostic report to you, but on my last system startup, I noticed that Malwarebytes was running (icon appeared in the hidden icons section of the task bar, like it should if it was running). But what's strange now is that when I open my system startup items in the Task Manager, Malwarebytes is NOT in that list.
  2. Even though it's turned ON in the Startup Options in the settings, Malwarebytes will not start with my Windows 10 on startup. Any suggestions to resolve? Thank you.
  3. Thanks Bruce, so what do you suggest that we do? It's safe to Unquarantine the file at this point?
  4. My MB Pro RARELY ever detects something is a threat before my Nortons Security Suite, but today when I went to open my Comodo Dragon browser, before the browser was allowed to start, MB detected avutil-51.dll as "Trojan.fakesig," so I quarantined it. I then immediately did a Google search to find anything I could at all regarding this possible threat, only to find out that it's an extremely new detection, and it seems like anyone else who has posted anything about it online on other computer related forums are ALL wondering if it's a false positive or not. However, nobody I seen had it detected as soon as they opened up the Comodo Dragon browser. I also run Iron, which many of you know is another version of the Chrome browser (like Comodo), but ran my Comodo Dragon before I opened up Iron today, so it MIGHT have detected/quarantined the same file for Iron if it's some kind of file associated with Chrome type browsers, AND it's a false positive. The people that I seen who posted questions about this SAME file being detected received a MB warning when they went to open up their Borderlands 2 game, and they said that it ended up in their 'Steam' folder. The folder that my detection was in is C:\Program Files\Comodo\Dragon\avutil-51.dll. I have not restarted my computer since the detection/quarantine, but others are saying that on Restart, MB is detecting the same 'threat' again. One person wrote on another forum: "I'm getting the same. I noticed that deleting them causes Steam to download them again, so I'm guessing it's a false positive. Reassuring to know that I'm not the only one getting it." Obviously, like I had said, this seems to be a very new occurrence/detection (and I'm SURE there are others here who had it detected today too, but there were no Stickys or other posts about it that I could find on THIS forum before I posted my thread just now), so if someone can shed some light on this I would greatly appreciate it.
  5. THANKS Gerard... that's great to know, and the way it SHOULD be with even Nortons... Lol... have a good day
  6. Thank you SO MUCH Mainard, and you're welcome!... some computer experts I know HIGHLY recommended Malwarebytes to me... Your information was EXTREMELY helpful and I set my scheduled scans and updates exactly how you displayed it... it's basically going to be running on auto-pilot now, and I really like that... I do have one question regarding renewals of the program... I also use Nortons, and there is an annual renewal fee to keep the subscription active... is it the same thing with Malwarebytes??... I hope not... Nortons is the only program that I have to spend money on once a year to keep it active... please let me know when you can, and THANKS again for your wonderful help.
  7. Hello there, I now have Version 5.1 (Pro) installed, and I have some questions regarding how the updates work with realtime protection, and also how the Protection Module works... in the Scheduler settings, I selected the update frequency to Realtime since this is one of the main features that I wanted to have by getting the Pro version if it's anything like realtime protection that comes with Nortons, for example... My question is this; after performing an initial full system scan, is it even necessary to perform such scans in the future if Realtime protection and the Protection Module is enabled?... and is it even necessary to manually check for updates under the Updates Tab?... WHAT EXACTLY is being performed when realtime protection is enabled?... from what I have gathered myself, I believe it is updating the database on a frequent basis (I have it set to every 5 minutes), just like Nortons does with their realtime pulse updates... but what about actual protection with the Protection Module?... it says that it "protects you from malicious threats before they can damage your system"... if this is true, isn't it safe to say that system scans are irrelevant later since the threats are blocked even before they can get into your computer?... Personally I don't mind doing manual updates and scans, but I am also going to install this program into my 15 year-old son's new computer, but he lives elsewhere, so I would like to have the program running on auto-pilot AS MUCH as possible if I am not there to check his system on a regular basis... it's his first computer, and he's not familiar with the importance of keeping on top of scans and updates with important protection programs as such, so that's why I'm concerned with these additional features... This is a brand new computer that I ordered for him, which is going to arrive here within the next couple of days... once I receive it, I am going to install Nortons AND Malwarebytes into it, then send it off to him all ready to go... I think you know what I'm getting at, so if anyone can help me understand how these additional features work exactly, it would be highly appreciated. Thank you.
