Everything appears to work fine now. The only change I made was "always register MBAM in the security center" was on, and I turned that off as suggested. I'm fairly sure that I was looking at a false positive and Malwarebytes has to get that fixed.

I did a bit more careful test. Word will not start, mbam blocks it as an exploit. windows security center had "register mbam" set to on. I turned that off. I will update the suggested 4 applications I like the iobot installer and I'm careful to remove any package hanger-ons. windows defender is on. Virus and threat protection is up to date.

For a few days now MBAM flagged cmd.exe whenever Word started, even before a file is selected. I did as suggested but I never saw mbst-grab-results.zip. Hard to say exactly what happened bu these two files were created. Addition.txt FRST.txt

I will do all that, and I think it's a false positive. I'm sophisticated and this machine is locked down, careful operation etc.

It's just other stuff they sell and it's easy to avoid those and just use the uninstaller application.

Root, that's good advice and this should be stated much more prominently on your website and perhaps even within MBAM. Now I have to try and recover our account and our licenses. Where could I get help with that, if needed.?

Porthos, I'm in a disbelieving state too, BUT, I have a computer science degree and been in the business for 30 years. I run the IT group of a large family business and we have law, architecture, accounting, mortgage, property management and interior design groups. Lots of PCs many of which run Malwarebytes. All have updated I think except for this one, an Acer i7 desktop. Right in front of my eyes the update stalled, the program was removed and then it worked. Let's say it was the Spirits that caused it.

An Update. Taking advice from many MS suggestions, I removed (uninstalled) Malwarebytes and let the computer try again to install W10 1909. It worked and now I'm pretty sure that the program was at fault. So there it is. And it's not malwarebytes fault. I'm disappointed in microsoft, the W10 updates have been terrible. How anybody can sign their company up for large scale MS products like Cloud I don't know. How can you trust them when they can't get my president's compute updated without loosing days and days of its use. Now I need some help to recover my account and reinstall the program.

My W10 machine has failed to update to 1909 twice now and it's trying to do it again. A lot of what I've read is that malware / antivirus programs are found to be at fault more often than not. Could you confirm that Malwarebytes might be involved in this, and what to do. The Update stalls as in the image and does not progress, either stalled or looping..
