AV Security 2012 - Blocking outgoing access to a potentially malicious website

Recommended Posts

Two days ago, I awoke and found my computer attacked by the AV Security 2012 spyware/virus or whatever it is. It was doing what everyone else in here has described. Wouldn't let me open anything, no .exe programs worked, blue screen, etc.

I went online and read how to stop the infection... I followed the directions line by line.

1. I rebooted in safe mode with networking.

2. Downloaded (via another computer and USB flashdrive) and used some application to stop the spyware from currently working... then used Malwarebytes to identify and erase infected.

3. Ran some BAT file

4. Went into my Windows/Users area to look for a HOST file to delete. I could not find this file so I did not erase anything (figured that would be better then doing something dumb).

5. Rebooted my computer and ran "spybot search and destroy and malwarebytes" a 2nd time to reassure myself.

6. Found out that my computer was more or less back online. I had access to files and programs again.

7. Attempted to access the internet via Internet Explorer... FAIL. Internet Explorer is totally destroyed. It will load up, but the layout looks all strange and it can't load up any URL's and is worthless. In the meantime, I have been using Fire Fox, which isn't a big deal to me (as this works fine with the internet). However, I would like to get Internet Explorer working again for certain downloads and windows update features.

8. The biggest problem for me is a pop up box in my bottom right corner from malwarebytes anti malware that constantly lets me know it has blocked an outgoing message. The message reads exactly as follows:

"Malwarebytes has successfully blocked access to a potentially malicious website: IP (random number everytime)

Type: outgoing

Port: (gives a different # each time)

Process: varies between these three (ping.exe, firefox.exe, svchost.exe)"

I am happy the program is trying to help me, but this window pops up regardless of a browser being open and it blocks something literally every 10-15 seconds or faster thus being extremely annoying. It has me worried that I missed something and my system is still at risk.

Soooo my final problems are -----

1. No Internet Explorer

2. Annoying Outgoing blocked messages.

Please help me complete the final steps here in ridding my computer of this spyware/virus!!! I super appreciate anyone's help or experiences with this! Many thanks!
