Greetings :)

If both of you have Avast! as your antivirus, then please contact their support and make them aware of the false positive and I'm certain they'll get it corrected. Reinstalling Malwarebytes Anti-Malware from here after the false positive has been corrected by Avast! should repair the Malwarebytes Anti-Malware protection module.

weaver 1 - If you do not have Avast! as your antivirus then please try reinstalling Malwarebytes Anti-Malware from here as that should correct the issue. If it does not, then please do the following:

  • Download and run mbam-clean.exe from here
  • It will ask to restart your computer, please allow it to do so very important
  • After the computer restarts, temporarily disable your Anti-Virus and install the latest version of Malwarebytes Anti-Malware from here
    • Note: You will need to reactivate the program using the license you were sent via email if using the Pro version
    • Launch the program and set the Protection and Registration. Then go to the UPDATE tab if not done during installation and check for updates.
Restart the computer again and verify that Malwarebytes Anti-Malware is in the task tray if using the Pro version. Now setup any file exclusions as may be required in your Anti-Virus/Internet-Security/Firewall applications and restart your Anti-Virus/Internet-Security applications. You may use the guides posted in the FAQ's here or ask and we'll explain how to do it.

Hi and thanks for your quick reply. I do have Avast and will therefore follow your advice to contact support there.I should say that in an attempt to fix the problem, I uninstalled MBAM and tried without success to reinstall. So left without malware protection I have downloaded a freebie meantime.

Hello,

The Mbamservice.exe was also blocked by Avast on my computer. I ran the mbam-clean.exe linked to above by Exile360, restarted the PC, went into the Avast advanced settings/exclusions, added the Malwarebytes folder under Program Files as an exclusion, reinstalled Malwarebytes, so far all is good between Avast and Malwarebytes. Before doing this I did submit the file to Avast as a false positive. I recommend doing this so they see others are having the same issue.

Ok, I removed the exclusion and ran a quick scan with Avast. They appear to be getting along again. Thanks everyone.

Thanks very much for your very promt reply, and I think it is all working okay now, just running Malware bytes now, but will try to send the false positive to Avast.

thanks again :)

Hi, Plumcake:

Glad it's working for you now. :)

Seems the FP has already been fixed by Avast!, so there's likely no longer any need to send them the file. :)

Please let us know if you need further assistance.

Advised on another forum that the FP had been fixed by Avast and followed the posters suggestion to try a re-install. It worked and all ok now. Thanks for your input.

Hello, weaver 1:

Thanks for posting back to let us know it's all working.

FWIW, at least in some cases, it may not be necessary to reinstall MBAM.

At least one member reported in another, similar topic here that it was only necessary to update the Avast! database from the GUI in order to restore the file.

In any event, it's good to know that you are back in business. :)

Please post back if you need anything further,
