Trojan.Fake RP False Positive - HP_Tuner_DPInst.exe

3 posts in this topic

A full scan today with MBAM PRO v. 1.70.0.1100 (database v2013.02.17.05) detected a file on my HP Pavilion laptop named C:\SWSetup\Drivers\TVTnr\HP_Tuner_DPInst.exe today as a Trojan.FakeRP malware that I believe is a false positive. The zipped file, as well as the log file from the MBAM scan (run in developer mode), is attached.

I believe this file came pre-loaded on my laptop from the factory since the creation date is 24-May-2007. My previous MBAM full scan on 10-Feb-2013 with database v2013.02.11.01 did not flag HP_Tuner_DPInst.exe as malware. Norton Internet Security 2013 v. 20.2.1.22 does not detect this file as a threat. A VirusTotal scan shows a SHA256 hash tag of 254905b3387db93049b3521e3f9815c13f8847f33158183dfc8bc0dafffc95aa with a 1/46 (Malwarebytes) detection ratio .

Hi nosirrah:

Thanks, problem solved.
