I installed Seatools and ran the S.M.A.R.T check which passed. the next test on the list was Short drive self test, which failed:

Now is a good time to make sure you have a current backup of your important data.

Well if it's getting errors I would not trust it myself.  I'd certainly look at backing all your data as it says and look at getting a new hard drive to replace it as soon as you can before it really dies on you.
