Malwarebytes Anti-Malware has stopped working - Vista

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I've just installed the latest Microsoft updates on 2 different Vista PC - 1 is 32-bit and 1 is 64-bit.

At login, after several seconds, I now get an error box that Malwarebytes has stopped running, Windows is looking for a fix and then "Malwarebytes Anti-Malware has stopped working"

Yes, I could do things on my side, but can you please first check to see if the latest MS updates broke your product.

Note - Manually starting Malwarebytes after it fails works fine.

Running 2.0.2.1012 Premium on both PCs.

Hi:

I am just a home user and forum volunteer, but AFAIK, there have been no such reports here at the forum.

While this month's M$ patches broke many things for many users, disabling MBAM is not among them, AFAIK.
I suppose it's possible that the *process* of updating itself could possibly have corrupted something in your MBAM installation, as the M$ patches included kernel-mode driver updates.

So if rebooting the computer doesn't resolve your issue, please start here, preferably with ONE computer at a time (to minimize confusion):

  • Please follow the steps in this pinned topic to uninstall your current version of MBAM and reinstall the latest build - MBAM Clean Removal Process 2x
  • If that does not correct the issue, then please read the following and post back attached to your next reply the 3 requested logs - Diagnostic Logs (the 3 logs are: FRST.txt, Addition.txt and CheckResults.txt)
  • NOTE: There is an FAQ section with valuable information located here - Common Questions, Issues, and their Solutions

Please let us know how it goes.

Thanks,
