Self-protection must be disabled under Advanced Settings before proSelf-protection must beceeding with the installation.

MalwareBytes will not allow me to update. 

 

My current version is 2.0.2.1012. I keep getting the pop-up message that a new update is available, so I tried to install this new update. The update is trying to install Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 2.0.3.1025.

 

Right after the installation starts, I get the message: 

 

"Self-protection must be disabled under Advanced Settings before proceeding with the installation.

Setup cannot continue. Please click Cancel to exit."

 

While I did have self protection enabled, I went in and reset it to disabled, restarted the computer and tried again and had the same result. 

Has anyone else had this experience? I have had no indication that I have an infection.

Is this the same computer for which you recently undertook a reformat/OS reinstall?

It sounds as if something may have been messed up during the in-place upgrade.  So, let's start here:

• Please carefully follow the steps in this pinned topic to uninstall your current version of MBAM and reinstall the latest build - MBAM Clean Removal Process 2x
• If that does not correct the issue, then please read the following and post back attached to your next reply the 3 requested logs - Diagnostic Logs (the 3 logs are: FRST.txt, Addition.txt and CheckResults.txt)

OK. I'm in the middle of a scan right now so I'll try afterward. BTW, this is not the same computer. The reformat on the other computer was successful with no observed problems
