Computer Infected - Help!

Recommended Posts

My computer is infected and I cannot find one person to help!! I'm not a programmer and have tried to follow every piece of advice I can find on the internet and this site from my work laptop (not the infected one). I re-booted in safe mode, from a jump drive with malwarebytes (renamed) on it (don't have blank CDs at home). I cannot access the internet as something has shut it down and at least 5 screens pop up with fake antivirus messages (I'm assuming they are fake). At first I was able to install Malwarebytes up to 'scan' which then the computer looks for 'drive 1' and cannot find it. Is there any software to download to a USB drive, and then I start my main computer in safe mode, and run the software without the virus(es) detecting it? Yes, I did rename the Malwarebytes.exe program. Much more than that, I don't know how to work through. It seems to be an aggressive virus - first fake antivirus messages, then shutting down almost every program, then the internet. Thanks for any help at all.

If your computer is infected as bad as you say, its usually just easier to reformat and reinstall your OS....

Hello Jamiem4, and welcome to Malwarebytes.org

We don't work on Malware removal in the general forums.

Please print out, read and follow the directions here, skipping any steps you are unable to complete. Then post a NEW topic here.

One of the expert helpers there will give you one-on-one assistance when one becomes available.

After posting your new post make sure under options that you select Track this topic and choose one of the Email options so that you're alerted when someone has replied to your post.

Alternatively, as a paying customer, you can contact the help desk at support@malwarebytes.org
