Windows Media Player and MBAM..

Recommended Posts

Hi all.

Not sure where to ask this but today whenever I've started up my Media Player, my MBAM protection module has been popping up saying that its blocked ip 213.174.154.144 .. is this right? Its kinda weird that its only been doing it today. I did a scan of my PC the first time after and its not picked up any infections. Sorry if this is in the wrong place but I wasn't sure where to put it. I'm not using Media Player now, I'm not entirely sure if it is safe to do so?

Thanks.

This is the link directly from Google - Both sites are linked and listed as "not very nice" -

I think most people want them blocked as content cannot be secure -

Have you loaded any games recently - I am not interested in the other item listed -

Thank You -

I have the EXACT same problem which started today. The moment I open WMP a popup says malicious site 213.174.154.144 has been blocked. I searched the net and this seems to be a nasty IP. I found a google chat that suggests they are involved with porn and I don't know what to think because we are careful about what sites we visit and do not go to adult type sites at all.

We have three computers running XP3 with MBAM on all three, yet this warning only appears on one computer.

The only difference between the three is we having been playing WAW online using the machine which now has the MBAM blocking malicious site 213.174.154.144.

We have completed scans with MBAM and NOD-32 among others, yet nothing has been found.

This is extremely frustrating because clearly something is wrong and I don't think it's a false positive because the other two computers do not spark this warning.

Any suggestions you might have would be greatly appreciated.

Hi -

The sites listed above would not produce a F/P if visited - There can always be a redirect infection involved here -

Personally I would get it checked by the experts - See below -

Please print out, read and follow What do I do now? , skipping any steps you are unable to complete.

The next step is post a New Topic Here.

One of the expert helpers there will give you one-on-one assistance when one becomes available.

After posting your new post make sure under options that you select Track this topic and choose one of the Email options so that

you're alerted when someone has replied to your post - Please allow at least 48 hours for a reply as the experts can get busy at times -

Also add a brief note to the experts as to your problems -

Alternatively, as a paying customer, you can contact the help desk at support@malwarebytes.org or via This Link

Always use the ADD REPLY Tab at the bottom of the page when you reply -

EDIT -

More sites listed at that IP -

TUBETEENPORN.ORG | tubeteenporn

Hi! I'm getting the same warning. I'm pretty sure my PC is clean. I don't do facebook. Is this a virus? I have the latest version of WMP. Also if malwarebytes blocks this IP, what is the harm? I get these warning all the time, mostly Chinese IP addresses. I don't think all of us have visited porn sites. I'm no expert ,but sounds like it's not our problem and Malwarebytes is protecting us. I think this is serious however, and needs attention. Thank you!

Hi! before we all panic and start bothering the malware fighters, I think this needs to be looked into immediately. I don't think we all have been infected. Once again I say malwarebytes is doing it's job. I don't know why WMP is triggering this however; and that's the problem the experts need to jump on right now. As long as malwarebytes is blocking the IP, I see no problem, and reason to panic, or stop using WMP. Those that don't have Malwarebytes running in real time are the ones that need to worry, and that's why I love my Malwarebytes.

Hi kickit! Welcome to the best forum on the internet. I don't know who found this first, but hopefully it will be caught and stopped real quickly. I'll never be without my Malwarebytes running in real time. This has to be just starting, and I'm sure they will find and it and stop it. Thanks for reading my post. PS they frown on the quote thing . I don't know why but they want you to use the Add Reply next to NewTopic at the bottom.

Hi Haider. I'm using Windows XP3 home addition, and I have WMP 11.0 also; and I'm having the IP problems. I'm out of my league on this, but I think we all need to sit back and take a deep breath before panicking and all start bothering the malware fighters. I have not down loaded any music or videos or Utobe. The experts certainly need to be notified if they haven't been already. Please don't think I'm disputing your advice. I just want to wait awhile before we all start our own threads for the malware fighters team. Since we all are seeing the pop up that this IP address is blocked, we surely can wait for advice before starting threads to see if we all have been infected; that's all I'm saying.

Hi kickit! Not Reply. AddReply. The one your using is the quote. That adds my post to your reply. You'll get the hang of it. I also was told to just use the AddReply. It's not a big deal! It just annoys some people here! Scroll all the way to the bottom of the topic. You will see FastReply-AddReply-and Newtopic. Use the Addreply when you post on a topic. Your doing great.

Hi kickit. Go to Windows Explorer- Program Files- Windows Media Player- Open it- and then hover your cursor over set-up-wm.exe. There is probably a easier way. That's how I do it.post-43884-1285438568_thumb.jpg Click at the top of scereenshot (view full image)
